Major Concerts - Week 49

Not much happened this week, it seemed pretty normal, just some Science Olympiad stuff on Wednesday and BPA on Thursday, which were just regular club check ups. The weekend was the most hectic part of this week though. There were lots of concerts that I had and for everyone else as well, it seemed like every musical thing was crammed into this weekend: plays, recitals, concerts, dances, etc. I was lucky to just have a dress rehearsal and a concert I guess.

Friday was the EYSO dress rehearsal before the concert on Sunday. It went really smooth and I was getting excited for the concert. But it was also really late since the rehearsal went up to 9:30 and I had a 45 minute drive home still. I ended up getting home and winded down before setting my alarm for 5am and sleeping. Then I woke up the next morning to go to ILMEA. I think I probably talked about it last year so you can go back to check that out if you need more information. We played Spanish Dance No 1, Symphony No 3 Mvt 1 by Florence Price, and some pieces from the Carmen Suite like Habanera. The day was actually kind of dull and it was just really exhausting and I even dozed off a couple of times. We didn't get many breaks, but the ones we did get I made sure to meet up with people from other schools since I don't see them as much.

Sunday was the EYSO concert and it was also kind of tiring I guess, but not as much. We played Tidal Rhythms which is a modern piece and we even met the composer before, Enigma Variations by Elgar, and Candide Overture. These pieces all took a lot of work and I'm proud of what we did since they were so hard and fast sometimes. I think that the mood at EYSO was a lot better than at ILMEA since the EYSO conductor is a lot more energetic and personal with us all. I think the concert went really smoothly and I didn't mess up that much.

All in all, the weekend was really exhausting but really rewarding as well to play this much music and savor it in my senior year. Now that this is over, next is Prism! I also need to finish up more college applications before the November 30st deadline *cough* UCs *cough*. Well that's it for this week, thanks for reading!
