Pumpkins - Week 45
This week honestly felt kind of normal, but there is still a bit of stuff that happened. Last week, I left off talking about Monday caddying and starting on Tuesday, we started creating rosters for Science Olympiad. I'm on track for 4 events this year and it's really exciting. I'm doing Flight, Scrambler, IAT, and Forestry. I have some knowledge of trees from the Morton Arboretum and I have a lot of experience with binder events so Forestry is a good fit for me. We also made a full freshman team roster for a later invitational. There are many other rosters that we have to make as well, but most of it is done. Wednesday, we were supposed to announce some things for Science Olympiad but the meeting was cancelled since our supervisor wasn't feeling very well. I also got recruited again to do the dragon dance for Chinese Club this year. I kind of don't want to do the actual dance, but maybe play something like Butterfly Lover Concerto while they do it this year. Thursday, not much happened since I had to prepare for many tests that I had on Friday. Friday came and I did all the tests and I got the news that I got into ILMEA. In celebration, me and a friend went to the Morton Arboretum!
That day was the Pumpkin Glass Blowing event. There were many small glass pumpkins that were made and up for sale in a designated area. They were all really cute and there were some really cool ones. The only issue is that they were all really expensive so none of us could really buy any. My favorite was a pineapple that was within the pumpkins, it was just really random and caught my eye. I also went back to the children's garden and talked a bit to my volunteer supervisor and caught up with her. Afterwards, we went on the scenic loops and checked out the various statues that were made around the Morton Arboretum and enjoyed the fall colors. It was really pretty and the weather was really cool as well, which made for a good outdoors experience. We found a really cool bridge in the forest as well and took some really cool pictures. It was a really cool spot and the background was great as well. It was a really fun day and I'm glad I went back there.
That's mostly what happened this week. The weekend was uneventful since I mostly worked on college apps and homework, so not much. Well, thanks for reading! Next week will be more eventful!
