Week 24- Music

Welcome to week 24, we're almost at doing this for half a year. This week was heavily music based since we had two district wide performances. The first one was the organizational festival which had different schools play together and get critiqued by an insanely good musician. We played Rounds for Strings by David Diamond and we played it kind of slow because we still weren't very good at it yet. But the clinician was very nice about it and went over parts slowly as well and even tried going quicker which didn't completely fail. That day wasn't very memorable and not much happened during the week until Saturday. On Saturday, we had solo and ensemble which is an event where you play solos and with an ensemble to various judges and clinicians who help you improve once you've played it. Usually I'd prepare a solo for it but I didn't do it this year. The event is set up so that the best performers hold a concert at the end of the day at an "Honors Recital". The ensemble I played in had very strict time constraints and it was kind of stressful learning new music in a short amount of time and being forced into a time. I feel like we did the best in our room, but there wasn't much competition. The other people played very basic pieces or pieces that were too hard for them. Afterwards, going to the Honors Recital was pretty fun, I met up with some friends and we listened to the performers together. I plan to go onto that stage next year and I might even perform a concerto but who knows. Today in EYSO, I played with some of the lower level groups and I met a 6th grader who I'll be stand partners with for a Hungarian Dance. Not much really happened this week and I'm sorry I kind of splurged it all into one paragraph. School became increasingly harder because it feels like every class is dishing out the hardest units at the same time and it's hard to keep up.

Well that's it for this week, thanks for reading,

-Charlie
