Week 2

Well, I'm back again with the second week. It was really nice this week to get an extended weekend. We had Labor Day on Monday and we also had an Institute Day on Tuesday which left me with three days of school and plenty of energy recharged! School seemed less stressful this week, I still had a lot of assignments and some tests coming up, but I didn't feel the burden of being really tired, not understanding much in class, and feeling like I'm just suffering throughout the first few periods. Of course I'm still stressed about the tests I have next week, they all seem really hard and I really don't want to fail them.

Last week, I watched Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings and it was a really good movie in my opinion. I watched it with a bunch of friends. Let me rephrase that... I rented out a movie theater with a bunch of friends. I feel like it was really worth it because I brought about 20+ people which made the cost about $11 per person. An upside is that a lot of the people there knew other people and formed groups with them. You can also mandate the safety of everything there with covid, knowing everyone personally made me trust everyone there more. In addition to this, we were able to share popcorn with each other. We did this by asking for boxes at the front desk (free of charge) and getting a refillable popcorn bucket. This way, we can share the popcorn with each other using the bucket and the boxes so everyone was happy during the movie. However, we didn't find a way to store liquids or drinks, but that's something to figure out for next time.

On Tuesday, we had a golf match at Elgin Country Club. I was originally not supposed to go, but someone dropped out because they were feeling under the weather (foreshadow). So the team played in the match with me subbed in. The thing is, there was bad weather imminent. The thing is about golf is that you're supposed to play in any condition, no matter rain or shine. The only exception is lightning, because you don't want to risk getting struck by lifting a metal club into the air. There was lightning at the tournament, but since it was a relatively big tournament we were called in to wait for it to be safe instead of the tournament getting cancelled. This happened a couple of times before it was actually cancelled. But in those couple of times were many stories. For example, when we were going back onto the course, I had to run every time because my group somehow always got there faster than I did. I would always be winded because it's running a couple hundred yards with a 10-20 pound bag on your back. The pattern would always repeat, we go out, get called back in 10 minutes later, then go back out thirty minutes later. Eventually me and some teammates got annoyed, so we decided to not go back inside and stay under a large tree so it would be a shorter walk to get there. We eventually got told that we had to go back in because the tree wouldn't shelter us from the lightning. We got really annoyed when we saw there were people standing at a higher elevation way out in the open, and we were forced to go back even though we were low and protected by a tree. Eventually the tournament was cancelled and we went home. It was somewhat of a shame because I don't think I was playing that bad, and if there wasn't any lightning delays, I think I would've played really well.

Well I think that about covers my week and many of the major events I did. This concludes my second week and I'm really warming up to the idea. For the first week, me trying to advertise it on reddit didn't go very well, I'm thinking of posting this on instagram later and cater to people that know me personally. The more people I know that read this, the more challenge it would be to write everything down because my dignity might not allow it. Well this is week 2, I think I definitely want to work on a tutoring program where I can help people. I already have some people that I'm helping, and I feel more confident in my teaching ability in subjects especially like math. I'll provide more information next week. Thanks for reading!
